Music Industry and lack of sleep

I miss the days when it was hours and hours playing music and writing new songs. Seems I am spending more hours in front of a computer wheeling and dealing selling the last CD we wrote...

Record label lack of communication can drive you crazy. The hunger to get back in the studio and write more music for the 2nd CD nagging at you like crazy. But dealing with A&R rep that has zero and I mean zero communication skills will drive you nuts.. Causing even more lack of sleep when you have so many questions because your hungry to get busy.. but don't want to get busy in fear of what if it was a waist of time? I hate the hurry up and wait mode.. I am the kind of guy that every hour in the day must count for something.

But the great thing is where I see light at the end of the tunnel... Is I have been talking to a new A&R rep and I have to say this lady is truly amazing on ever level you can think of..We are in serious hopes we can strike a deal with her by next week... If we do the Robert Jamason Project might become a thing of the past... We will be forming a full band called Succor... Just kind of a hint of whats going on.. this is a short blog for the day.. kind of as short as the sleep I have been getting this past week

I will keep you posted as new news arrives.

Jesse Fullbright Composer, Guitar, Keyboard, Bass, On the Robert Jamason Project

Being a co-composer for the Hands That Heal cd has truly been a blessing for me. Not only have I got to witness Robert Jamason compose a piece of music but I've also had the privilege of working with him. To think that I would be composing music someday was never really something I had anticipated but it was always in the back of my mind. When I think back to my childhood I remember that hearing was my favorite sense, and I would listen to music and just get lost in it. I would absorb it and produce a burning desire to want to create something like it but I focused on sports rather than art and expression. In fact every noise to me was just beautiful and the fact that noises could be translated to a picture painted in the mind captured me.

I eventually started learning the guitar and immediately felt the void I had been missing was replaced. My mother knew the basic chords of the guitar and showed me how to play them and from then on I wouldn't stop. I have been writing music and composing for almost half my life and even branched out into learning instrument other than the guitar, such as, piano(keys), drums, bass and the harmonica as well. I plan on learning more but thats enough for now as I'm getting more into the production of sound and the elements of song writing.

I started throwing together ideas with friends and alone with my own thoughts, but never had a real idea for my music. I felt like my talents to learn these instruments was a God send in itself but when I met Robert Jamason it reassured me that my music talents weren't meant to just be a hobby. I finally knew what my music was meant for, a greater cause, something someone can listen to and get lost in soo much that it inspires them as much as I was inspired by sound. A piece of art that someone would listen to and appreciate because it speaks to them.

Music is beautiful and sounds are too, although some sounds may be too harsh to handle, they are still a beautifully natural part of what surrounds us everyday. Sure a paint brush can tell a story, or a photograph can say 1000 words... a piece of music artfully crafted with a vision drives people! Purely because people believe in the artist and they relate to the what they have said. When I met Robert he proved to me that I have a gift, even though I work day and night working on my music skills, I have always felt like I could just understand it or learn to understand it. I didn't really think my guitar playing was special or that it was interesting enough for a cd, I just liked playing what I thought sounded beautiful.

My good friend Jake Aiuto played rhythm and would sing vocals and together we would write catchy little tunes that we would just play back and forth laughing and joking with our friends. Robert noticed not only my talent on the guitar but Jake's talented vocals. I would pick Robert's brain trying to get every little bit of information. It got to a point that Robert asked us to be a part of something he was working on. We started out working on songs like Only Souls and Mustard Seed, and still to this day I get goose bumps listening to Only Souls as it really captures me as a listener but also being a part of it and feeling the emotion behind it which fueled my guitar solo makes me feel the song even deeper.

The Hands That Heal cd is not only something I am proud to be a part of, but it is something I have had a blast working on and got to know Robert Jamason and his family in the process, who have treated me as their own flesh and blood. Great people to share life with. And not only have I got to know the Jamason family, but working on the Hands That Heal cd has got me closer with my own family. My mother, father and two sisters. They have always supported me and I hope they can feel some support from the Hands That Heal cd and other cd's to come.

We are currently working on a second album as of right now. Robert and I bouncing ideas back and forth musically working together to compose a piece of art to have Jake sing on to add the final touch.  The most recent song we are working on is called sleeping tiger. We look forward to continuing the song with the vocals needed to be added soon. Sneak peaks of new music and new ideas from the Hands That Heal studio with be submitted. It is a true blessing to work with Robert and to write and compose together. And I have not only had the time of my life getting to Robert and writing with him but the composition of the album and the new work we are currently doing has got me further in my walk with the Lord. God bless the Hands That Heal studio.

Mustard Seed

Mustard seed was written due to so many people blame God for all the bad things that happen to them or others..Always asking where were you God when this or that happen.. People even go as far as saying God brought them the pain and misery...

Like the song says where were you when cancer hit the earth... God says thats why I made you!. You only need faith the size of a mustard seed. But your faith isn't in me your faith is in TV.

Matthew 17:20
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Come on how big is a mustard seed? My heart breaks knowing how much we tossed God out of this world and then blame him?

Luke 23:39-43
New American Standard Bible (NASB) 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!” 40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!” 43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”

New Song Sleeping Tiger

We are in the studio working on a new song called the Sleeping Tiger. Very theatrical sounding song.
Working with Jesse Fullbright on this 2nd CD I have to say is a huge blessing on so many levels.
I have worked with tons of musicians over the years. And even as talented as most are. At times it can be very tough explaining your vision in a song. And begin to bring it to life. Sometimes it feels like trying to describe the color blue over the phone to someone..

So most the time in the past I would fall on depending on myself to play every instrument on the song. From Guitar to keyboards to Bass to Drums.. I for sure wouldn't try and sing. I think my voice sounds like someone is trying to beat the heck out of a seagull with a set of bag pipes. :-)

Thank God we have Jake Aiuto to cover all of the vocals.

But back to what I was saying. Working with Jesse is such a blessing.. He is like a mini me.. This guy hears and sees in my brain every single time we work on a section of music. I can be a bit over picky at times when it comes to sound and music. Making it very hard for someone to work with me at times..
Not that I am a jerk in the studio or anything like that. But I will reject music that I don't seem to think it fits the overall vision of the song. Meaning coming up with something cool is one thing. But does it help the story is another thing is my point.

Working with Jesse its like I can say hey look at the words in this section.. How can we support those words with the right tone, instrument, melody, rhythm, or what ever it needs, I know what I hear in my head but what do you hear in your head? And it never fails its like Jesse can read my mind.. He nails the vision I have in my head 100% of the time. That is a true God send and a blessing for me.

The song the sleeping tiger we are currently writing is about in October 1976 some Israeli soldiers had walked into a mine field in the middle of the night... when they realized they was stuck and could not move forward or go back. God caused a massive wind that moved the sand and uncovered 1000's of land mines. The moon peak through the clouds. And the soldiers could see every single mine.

This song Jesse was able to paint the opening vision using the G Harmonic minor scale.. it truly added the drama and tension this song needed.. Keep checking back we might add a sneak a peek to the song or studio video while we work on it

This song came about due to a church I went to. The people in the church were in a uproar over a homeless guy sitting on a church bench outside the church. From what I understand he wasn't bothering anyone at all.. But the people in the church wanted him removed and they wanted no trespassing signs put up.. This really broke my heart on so many levels.. One I do recall Jesus was homeless as well.. And there was a point in my life I use to be homeless.. Seems now days churches are no longer about Christ.. They are about the people in the church.. Churches remind me of a private country club these days. I was truly shocked.. When they took God out of schools. And the Christians took God out of church... Christians now days are lazy self serving anymore.. Show me one Christian that stood up and fought to keep God in Schools? It amazes me one or 2 atheist..  Can get a cross removed off a property or 10 commandments out of a court house.. The very fiber this country was built on... But with all the mega churches out there rolling in more money then any of us could possibly hope for.. Couldn't rally to keep God in school? Don't call your self a Christian unless your serving God and what he wants.. Bunch of self serving wimps... Im pretty sure God wants to be in the schools and court rooms and anywhere you walk...

And yet I meet Christians everywhere I turn.. But they only admit it to each other they are Christians.. They have turned into major wimps over the years.. Christians and churches are all about getting their needs met.. But Not what Gods needs are.... A bunch of self serving wimps every last one of them..
If you ever tell me your a Christian but not willing to tell others about Christ... for what ever excuse you have such as . Oh I'm afraid to to speak up... let me translate what that says to me... You don't know Christ and you are ashamed of him... So please don't say you are a Christian unless your willing to brag about how powerful and amazing Christ is..
I really don't have time for wimp Christians anymore... if the offends you... it offended your flesh... it does not offend God when someone stands up for him... because he laid down his life for us... So go cry your river somewhere else not to me.
